can i house a chicken in my backyard?

i saw a chicken today and i want to know if i can house ONE in my back yard. the span of my yard is about a quarter acre. we have corn growing in our backyard as well. it bloomed from bird seed. do you think if i got a chicken i could feed it that? would it grow fast enough? could i allow my chicken to walk around on the ground when its not in its coop? please answer all questions! thanks!…p.s. i really want a chicken…would they be nice petting animals?

    I have chickens and you can certainly do that…but to make sure it doesn’t get eaten you must put it up every night…you dont have to feed them since they eat bugs, worms, and grass…but you can…they also eat old food like bread, noodles, crackers and old fruit they can wander around when its not in the coop as well…depending on the kind and how friendly you can pick them up as well

    i had a coupel pet chickens and have rasied chickens my whole life. They make great pets, ecspecially when you raise them from ******. Mine lived with me in an apartement so its fine in a back yeard lol. Corn bread grains friuts leafy vegtables…stuff liek that. stay away from meats they will go canabalistic and start eating each other…no joke iv seen it happen.
