Chicken warning cries
A young hawk was skulking around the chicken coops this morning when I heard panic sounds from my chickens. Opening the back door scared away the hawk. The rooster had taken good care of most of the flock, ushering them into the coop; some of the others hid in the safety of the brush in the woods….

We invited some friends over who are doing a home experiment on self-sustainablility in their urban neighborhood. We were interested in doing the same. Adam helped us build a chicken coop from some materials we had. We used a wooden shipping container, some chicken wire on the bottom, and made some doors that slide up and down. Inside is a heat lamp to keep the chicks warm at night….
