bovan goldline or sussex wight are good breeds.
they are very tame, good natured and lay upto 300 eggs a year each.
    We have got 4 !

I liked the Arcana’s, they layed medium sized blue colored eggs. Dark yolks, good eating eggs.

Rhode Island Reds lay nice large brown eggs.

The hens are typically good natured, the roosters, well look at the size of their brains.

We currently have polish hens ( there funny looking! ) and have a nice personality, but there really stupid, we also have Silkie Bantams which are awesome egg layers and make good surrogate mommas, we have a couple of Blue Laced Wyandottes, which are very good layers, there is also our Silver Sebright Bantams wich are very pretty but the male is super mean and then we have our Rhode Island Reds that are our main egg layers! Hope this helps

I love our marans. Great layers, broody but not terribly broody like a silkie, mild mannered, hardy and they lay a gorgeous terra cotta colored egg. We have kept them for years and they never disappoint.
